Getting started

How do I set up my home?

Open CozyHaus and tap Set up your home. A few short questions follow, in four chapters: You, Your home, Your plan and Finishing touches. Apart from your name, every question has a ready answer, so you can tap Next and change anything later in Profile. Near the end you save your home with Apple or Google, so it’s safe and ready to share.

Then the house builds itself and the house spirit walks you through your first chore. If you close the app halfway, it picks up where you left off.

What does each person need?

An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, or an iPad with iPadOS 17 or later. Each person needs their own iPhone or iPad and an Apple or Google account to sign in with.

CozyHaus speaks English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish. It follows your phone’s language; to pick another one just for CozyHaus, open Profile and tap Language.

Can I use it on my own?

Yes. Choose Just me when the app asks who lives here. Everything works for one, and you can invite someone later if they move in.

Where are the settings?

Tap the person button at the top right of Home to open Profile and home. That’s where you change your answers from set-up, your reminders, sharing and backups, Plus, sound and display, and the app’s language. Show me around again replays the first tour.

Inviting and joining

How do I invite someone?

Set-up offers the invite near the end, right after you save your home. Later, open Profile and, under Who lives here, tap Invite with their name. If they aren’t listed yet, tap Add someone there first. The Together tab has an Invite button for them too.

CozyHaus makes a short message with a six-character code, like HOUSE-AB12CD. Copy it or share it however you like; the app never sends anything for you.

Only the person who set up the home can invite. Two people share a home for free; a third and fourth person need Plus.

How do I join with a code?
  1. Open CozyHaus and tap I have an invite code on the welcome screen. Already using CozyHaus? Open Profile and tap Join a home with a code under Who lives here; your own home waits in Our homes.
  2. Type the code and sign in with Apple or Google. Pick which person you are if asked, then choose your look and a few chores. It takes about two minutes.

You join the home as it is, with all its history, stars and thank-yous.

The code doesn’t work

A code works for a week, and closes once everyone the home was waiting for has joined. Ask the person who set up the home for a new one (they find it in Together), and check that your phone has a connection.

Can I look around before I get an invite?

Yes. On the code screen, tap No invite yet? Look around a sample home. The sample stays on your phone and is never sent anywhere.

Plus and purchases

What does Plus cost, and who pays?

CozyHaus is free for everyone at home. Plus is optional: 4.99 USD or EUR a month, 39.99 a year, or 79.99 once for life. Prices may vary by country, and the App Store shows yours before you buy.

One plan covers the whole home. It is billed to the Apple Account of the person who buys it, and the others never pay.

How do I restore my purchase?

Usually there’s nothing to do: CozyHaus checks your Apple Account’s plans every time it opens. If Plus doesn’t show, open Profile, go to CozyHaus Plus and tap Restore purchases, with the same Apple Account that bought Plus. The rest of your home gets Plus through the home itself, so they don’t need to restore anything.

How do I cancel a subscription?
  1. Open Settings on the iPhone or iPad of the person who pays.
  2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  3. Choose CozyHaus Plus and tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel it. In the app, the payer also finds Manage in Settings on the Plus card in Profile. Before a yearly plan renews, the payer gets a letter in the house’s mailbox a week ahead.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles all payments, so refunds go through Apple. You can ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We never see your payment details, and we can’t change a purchase ourselves.

What is the free Plus week?

When you set up your first home, CozyHaus gives the whole home a week of Plus, once per person. No card, nothing to cancel. When it ends, everything you made stays, and Plus tools rest until someone chooses a plan.

Reminders

How do I change my reminders?

Open Profile and tap Reminders. Each person sets their own, on their own phone. Choose a style (A gentle nudge, Today’s list, Big jobs only or No reminders) and the time of day that suits you.

Planned reminders come once a day at most (twice on bin night), and after three quiet days the nudges stop by themselves.

What are quiet hours?

With Quiet hours on, no reminders come from 10 PM to 8 AM, and news from the people you live with waits until morning. It’s on from the start, and you can switch it in Profile under Reminders. The one note that doesn’t wait is the one saying someone has just moved in to your home. To take a break, use Pause reminders: for today, for a week, or until you turn them back on.

I don’t get any reminders
  • Check that notifications for CozyHaus are allowed in your iPhone’s Settings, under Notifications. The Reminders screen in Profile has a button that takes you there.
  • Check that the style isn’t No reminders and that reminders aren’t paused.
  • A Focus mode on your iPhone can hold notes back, too.

Backups and a new phone

Are there backups of our home?

Yes. CozyHaus saves a copy on your phone every day you open it (the last 14 are kept), and another before anything big. Your home is also kept on our server, so it’s safe if you lose your phone.

In Profile, under backups, tap Save a copy to keep one in Files, or Bring back a copy to go back to an earlier one. Before a copy comes back, today’s house is saved as a copy first.

How do I move to a new iPhone or iPad?
  1. Install CozyHaus on the new phone and tap Already have a home? Sign in on the welcome screen.
  2. Sign in with the same Apple or Google account as before. CozyHaus offers your home back; tap to bring it back. This works for a home you set up and for one you joined.
  3. If you pay for Plus and it doesn’t show yet, tap Restore purchases in Profile.

You can also save a copy to Files on the old phone and move the file to the new one. Then, after setting up, use Bring back a copy and choose From Files.

Leaving and deleting

How do I leave a home?

Open Profile and, under Sharing and backups, tap Leave this home. You keep a full copy of the house with all its history, as your own home, and the others keep theirs.

If you set up the home, you can tap Stop sharing instead. Everyone keeps a copy of the house as it is now, and you can invite again any time.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete your account in the app, then remove what’s left on your phone:

  1. Open Profile, then Sharing and backups (Saving and backups in a home of one), then Your account, and tap Delete my account. This deletes your account and your data on our server, and takes you out of every home. A home other people still live in stays with them.
  2. If you use Apple Calendar sync, turn it off in the Calendar tab to remove its calendar.
  3. Delete the app. This removes the home and its daily copies from your phone.
  4. Delete any copies you saved to Files.

Deleting your account or the app doesn’t cancel a Plus subscription; cancel it in Settings too. The privacy policy has the details.
